性行為的發展概述: 性腳本之說

文化腳本定義什麼是“性的”和什麼是好的“性”或什麼是壞的“性”。這同樣也意味著，文化腳本為適當的性別角色行為、性欲行為和生殖行為定義性的“常態”，即定義性的標準。然而，這些定義從一種文化體系到另一種文化體系和從一段歷史時期到另一段歷史時期會發生著改變。因而，性常態（sexual normality）可以在一個文化體系裏被定義得非常狹窄、在另一個文化體系裏略為寬泛和再一個文化體系裏寬泛得多。

Cultural scripts define what is “sexual” and what is good or bad about it. This also means that they define sexual “normality” i.e. the standard for the proper gender role and erotic and reproductive behaviors.  However, these definitions vary from one culture and historical period to another. Thus, sexual normality may be very narrowly defined in one society, a little more widely in another, and much more widely in still another:
