街头妓女会站在街道人行道旁或街边角落等待主顾光顾。这样的街头妓女在城市的一些区域或刚好在城乡结合部出现，她们常常是警察挂在嘴边的人物。沿着特殊的街道通常有大量妇女成排结队。一些主顾会步行到达现场，不过，大多数都是驱车前往，摇下他们的车窗，与其中一名女人讨价还价。一旦交易成交，这名女人会钻进车内。性服务常常就直接在车内完成，或在临近的小巷结束，或者为此目的而在临时租用的房间里实施。

Street prostitutes stand on side walks or at street corners waiting for customers. The streets are found in certain areas of a city or just beyond city limits, and they are well known to the police. There are usually a number women lining up along a particular street. Some customers approach the scene on foot, but most of them drive by in their cars, open their car window and negotiate with one of the women. Once an agreement is reached, the woman enters the car. The sexual service is often rendered directly inside the car, or in a nearby alley, or in a room briefly rented for this purpose.
This is the lowest - and lowest paid - form of prostitution. Many of the women are controlled by pimps. Some have a drug habit (mostly heroin and crack cocaine). The work is often dangerous, because the women may become victims of brutal or even psychopathic customers. The women who use drugs run the greatest risk of being beaten, robbed, or infected, because they need a lot of money and therefore cannot afford to be particular and to insist on condom use.
