Males
Males who engage in mutual masturbation sometimes find it practical to apply some saliva or artificial lubricant to their penises in order to avoid hurting sensitive penile areas. The best lubricants for this purpose are water-soluble. If enough lubrication is provided, the partners can easily switch to genital intercourse i.e. an apposition of sex organs.
