上述关于异性性行为所陈述的内容原则上也适用于同性性行为。多数性学研究者在这里再一次集中关注性行为的基本类型，它们涉及与至少一个参与者的性器官发生直接接触的性交方式。这样的处理在相当程度上简化了这件复杂事物。所以，在此我们再一次遵照这种用法，并把性交区分为4种基本的类型： |

intercourse；拉丁语manus：手）：当一个性伴的性器官与其他人的手接触的时候，我们把这定义为手交。

口交（oral
intercourse；拉丁语os：口）：当一个性伴的性器官与其他人的口接触的时候，我们把这定义为口交[1]。

生殖器性交（genital
intercourse；拉丁语genitalia：生殖器官）：当一个性伴的性器官与其他人的性器官接触的时候，我们把这定义为生殖器性交。

肛交（anal
intercourse；拉丁语anus：直肠开口、肛门）：当一个性伴的性器官与其他人的肛门接触的时候，我们把这定义为肛交。

What was stated above about heterosexual intercourse, applies, in principle, also to homosexual intercourse. Again, most sex researchers here focus on a few basic forms of sexual intercourse that involve direct physical contact with the sex organs of at least one of the participants. This simplifies the matter considerably. Therefore, we once again follow this usage here and distinguish between four basic types of sexual intercourse:

We speak of manual intercourse (lat. manus: hand) when the sex organs of one partner are in contact with the hand(s) of the other.
We speak of oral intercourse (lat. os: mouth) when the sex-organs of one partner are in contact with the mouth of the other.
We speak of genital intercourse (lat. genitalia: organs of generation) when the sex organs of one partner are in contact with the sex organs of the other.
We speak of anal intercourse (lat. anus: rectal opening) when the sex organs of one partner are in contact with the anus of the other.
