人的生命是有性生殖而來的，也就是通過兩性不同個體——男性與女性的結合。為了生殖後代，男性和女性必須達到性成熟，也就是他們的身體必須已經發育到產生性細胞（配子）的程度：在女性，其結果是每月產生一枚成熟的卵細胞；在男性則每日產生數百萬個精子。 |

Human life is reproduced sexually, i.e., by the combined effort of two individuals of different sex: a male and a female. In order to reproduce, both the male and the female must be sexually mature, i.e., their bodies must have developed to the point where they produce sex cells (gametes): In the female, as a rule, one mature egg cell per month; in the male, millions of sperm cells daily. |
