雙性戀者的第一次科學大會於1990年在柏林召開（“雙性戀者，Bisexualities”）。這次大會從不同的學科，例如從歷史學和生物學學科角度，檢視了雙性戀這個主題。同時，這次大會的基礎成果已經廣泛地被接納和得到貫徹，尤其在性傳播疾病/愛滋病預防領域。

The most important papers of this congress were published in both German (“Bisexualitäten” 1994) and English (“Bisexualities” 1998). The congress organizers and editors were E. J. Haeberle and R. Gindorf.

The first scientific congress on the subject was held in Berlin in 1990 (“Bisexualities”). It examined the issue from the perspectives of different academic disciplines, for example from those of
history and
biology. In the meantime, the basic findings of this congress have been widely accepted and put into practice, especially in the area of STD/AIDS prevention.
