避孕不仅仅是一个个人问题，而且也是一个很大的社会问题。例如：世界上有设法使避孕在各处得到运用的国际组织存在。另一方面，世界上也有许许多多的男男女女，他们要么对避孕革命的成果一无所知，要么真真切切地对避孕感到害怕。确实如此，有一种广泛的担心，认为普遍地接受了避孕方法后，将会导致普遍的乱交和道德堕落。另一方面，越来越多的人们正警觉到了人口过剩的危机。毋容置疑，如果人口继续增长而得不到控制，将在世界上的许多地区导致越来越深重的穷困。确实是这样的，在世界上最贫穷和最不发达的国家里将发生突出的人口增长问题，这就意味着在这些国家里增加了巨大的社会和政治问题。在我们这个“地球村”，这些问题也进而一定会影响到发达国家，由此所致，我们共有的将来很可能预期相当黯淡，除非我们立即做出抑制人口增长的努力，否则，前景并不美妙。

Contraception

Contraception is not just a personal, but also a larger social issue. For example: There are international organizations which try to make contraception available everywhere. On the other hand, there are also many men and women who either remain blind to the consequences of the contraceptive revolution, or who are honestly afraid of them. Indeed, there is a wide无spread concern that the universal acceptance of contraception might lead to universal promiscuity and moral decay. On the other hand, more and more people are becoming alarmed about the dangers of overpopulation. Indeed, there can be no doubt that a further unchecked growth of the population would produce mounting misery in many parts of the world. Indeed, much of the projected population increase will take place in the poorest, least developed countries, and this will mean an enormous increase in their social and political problems. In our "global village" these problems, in turn, are bound to affect the developed countries as well, and thus our common future could look rather bleak unless something is done about it right now.
