[Zanzibaris are descendants of slaves from Zanzibar island in Tanzania and the Makua island in Mozambique. Today 97% is Muslim.] Oosthuizen (1992:p316-8)[1] details boy and girl initiation. Boys are circumcised (being “desacralized with jando as a compromise between traditional African initiation and Muslim circumcision”) and “[…] given advise with regard to sexual matters”.
