As described by Buxton (1963)[1], a specific courting hut (lomore) allows a free atmosphere for adolescent [the exact age at which it is entered is not given] girls to meet boys, ten in one hut, where “parents as a whole do not interfere with the flirtations of their daughters. […] There may be affectionate petting- stroking and caressing- but sexual intercourse does not take place. […] huts are not places for affairs or sexual licence”.
