Critical Introduction - The Meaning of Sexual Health

What is Sexual Health?

Example: The sexual health of women

The current definitions of sexual health are problematic in several ways. We become aware of some of the problems when we take a closer look at our own past.

Generally speaking, before the First World War (1914-1918) women had no right to sexual health in the current sense. At the same time, many other sexual rights were denied to many other groups of people. Indeed, the very concept of sexual rights was unheard of and would not have been accepted.
