Prenatal Tests
Medical care and supervision are important for all pregnant women. Throughout the pregnancy, various routine examinations and so-called prenatal tests (lat. tests “before birth”) will be performed. Depending on the individual case, some of these may have to be more specific and extensive.
Generally speaking, 96% of all babies are born healthy in every way, and of the remaining 4% about half show only some minor variation, such as an extra toe, for example. This poses no real problem for their lives as children and adults. However, if there is a suspicion during pregnancy that the developing baby may have serious health problems, some specific screening procedures may be in order. Among these are
