4. 症狀是什麼？ 明晰可見的是皮膚上細小的、微凸的和發癢的紅色斑點。皮膚刺激症狀尤其在急性期，在手指和手腕內側、肘部、大腿及下臀部的皮膚表現明顯。就象其他身體部位可能感染一樣，男女外部性器官也可能受到感染。 5. 如何診斷？ 醫生通過從感染皮區刮取一些皮屑，置顯微鏡下觀察可資診斷。 6. 如何治療？ 與陰虱治療一樣，可用當地使用的洗滌劑(奎爾和其他殺蟲劑等)從頸部往下塗滿全身進行清洗。與治療陰虱相同，既然一些正在治療的病人需要特別的護理，就應該遵照醫囑開展治療。即使清除了全部的蟎，皮膚瘙癢可能會維持一段時間。 7. 如何預防？ 感染者的性伴和與感染者日常生活密切接觸者都應該去治療。衣服和床單必須徹底清洗和消毒。改善居住環境將有助於預防蟲害侵擾。

4. What are the symptoms?
Clearly noticeable are small, slightly raised, itchy red spots on the skin. The irritation tends to be especially acute in the skin between the fingers and inside wrists, elbows, thighs and lower buttocks. The external female and male sex organs may also be affected as may be still other areas of the body.

5. How is it diagnosed?
A doctor can diagnose scabies by scraping some skin off the affected area and examining it under a microscope.

6. How is it treated?
As in the case of crab lice, the infestation is treated with locally applied lotions (Kwell and other insecticidal preparations), spread over the entire body from the neck down. As in the case of pubic lice, a doctor’s advice should be sought and followed, since some patients need to take special precautions is using the treatment. Even after the elimination of all mites, the itching may persist for a while.

7. How can it be prevented?
Sexual partners and everybody living in close daily contact with the infested person should be treated. Clothing and bed sheets must be thoroughly cleaned. Improved living conditions will help prevent new infestations.
