Organizations

Transvestites form a relatively small sexual minority, and therefore their organizations are also relatively small. Most are merely local or regional. Many seek and use the support of larger national and international Gender and Transgender Associations. Still, there are also specific transvestite groups with their own newsletters, social events, educational activities, and web sites. They perform an essential service for their members and their spouses. After all, many transvestites are married and have children. Their families often do not understand their behavior, but can profit from meeting others with the help of the group. Shown below is the typical message of such a group.
