Implants
In some cases of severe internal damage to the penis, some men may consider the surgical implant of a penile prosthesis. This is a serious decision that should be made only after all other options have been carefully weighed.
There are two major types of implants: Malleable rods and  hydraulic systems.

Malleable Rods
Two plastic semi-rigid, malleable rods are surgically implanted in the penis, replacing the corpora cavernosa. As a result, the penis remains in a semi-erect state, allowing for any desired manipulation. The rods can be bent down for concealment, and they can be bent upward for a full erection.

Hydraulic systems
A two-part hydraulic prosthesis is implanted in the penis, replacing the corpora cavernosa. A pump beneath the skin of the scrotum allows the filling and draining of the implant at will, causing an erection or a loss of erection of the penis.
