Treating "Dysfunctions" Apart
from their belief in "natural" sex, the
various past therapeutic interventions
did not necessarily have very much in
common. Indeed, over the centuries they
often pursued opposite strategies.
What was strengthened as a natural
function at one time was weakened as an
unnatural excess at another time, and
behavior that was recommended as healthy
by one physician was denounced as
pathological by another.
