Cultural scripts define what is “sexual” and what is good or bad about it. This also means that they define sexual “normality” i.e. the standard for the proper gender role and erotic and reproductive behaviors.  However, these definitions vary from one culture and historical period to another. Thus, sexual normality may be very narrowly defined in one society, a little more widely in another, and much more widely in still another:
