Sexual Minorities: 3. “Swingers”

According to a current definition, “swinging” is the “recreational social-sexual sharing among consenting adults”. In practical terms, this means that two or more heterosexual couples mutually agree to engage in sex with each other's partners or to share their partners with others at home or in special clubs or other meeting places. In many Western countries, swingers can be properly called a sexual minority because they are rather well organized with special web sites, newsletters, conferences, national associations and local chapters. Some even form international “loving networks” of like-minded couples in different countries, who visit each other. There are also numerous commercial “swinger clubs” charging an admission fee and offering their facilities to those interested. It seems that swingers are generally conservative in the non-sexual aspects of their lives. However, the “swinger community” is by no means uniform. Its members come from all cultural and educational backgrounds.

Swingers parties and club nights are held regularly in many countries.
The venues range from large homes in the city or countryside and magnificent houses with swimming pools and Jacuzzis to luxurious clubs. Admitted are usually couples and females only, mixed singles and couples, and bisexual females.
