除了性功能障礙以外，還存在著各類其他可能從治療獲益的臨床症狀。其中某些臨床綜合征可能比較容易地通過藥物或短程治療干預能夠治癒，其他的綜合征可能非常嚴重，需要一系列的醫學治療措施和/或長期的強化心理治療。綜合征中的某些症狀不但給相關個體帶來麻煩，而且也損害他人的權益。並不是每一個治療師或醫師都有資格治療所有的這些個症狀。確實如此，某些綜合征需要專家的會診和治療介入，還有某些病例可能最終證明對治療會沒有反應。

In addition to the sexual dysfunctions, there exists a variety of other conditions that might profit from therapy. Some of these may be easily treatable by medication or short therapeutic intervention, others may be very serious requiring a range of medical measures and/or intensive pschotherapy over a long period of time. Some of the conditions are problematic not only to the individual concerned, but are also harmful to others. Not every therapist or physician is qualified to treat all of these conditions. Indeed, some of the syndromes need the attention of specialists and, in some cases, they may eventually prove to be resistant to therapy.
