It should perhaps also be mentioned in this context that, according to a popular belief, vaginal spasms can occur not only before, but also after the insertion of a penis, thus trapping it inside the woman's body. However, among humans, this does not happen. Rumors to this effect always involve unknown third parties and are never substantiated. The phenomenon, also known as penis captivus [lat.: trapped penis], is found only in certain animals.
