比較一對夫婦各自的既往性生活史可能會提示有價值的線索，這不僅能發現性功能障礙的原因，而且能為制定有效的治療方案提供幫助。這並不意味著性治療師必須將這樣的線索透露給這對夫婦。儘管如此，在某些案例，鼓勵其中一個性伴向另一個性伴透露早前某些部分性生活史也許是有用的。但是，這必須始終取決於當事者本人的意願。

Comparing Sex Histories
Comparing the two sex histories of a couple can yield valuable clues not only about the possible causes of sexual dysfunctions, but also about the most promising treatment. This does not mean that the therapist must disclose such clues to the couple. Still, in some cases it may be useful to encourage one of the partners to disclose certain previously hidden parts of his or her sex history to the other. However, this must always be the client's own decision.
