SAMOYED, Samoyad, Nenets (Siberia)

 

 

Samoyad girls are as “more or less valuable property”, and “the impecunious parent frequently sells his children at a very early age, in order that he may realise her value”[1]; marriage, however, is not considered a binding tie.
