In Women The sexological examination is largely based on the research of the American gynecologist Arnold H. Kegel. In the 1940's, he developed some easy exercises that would help women in controlling incontinence (involuntary urination). However, these exercises soon also were found to facilitate and strengthen the sexual response (for details, see "The Treatment of Sexual Dysfunctions" in this course). In addition, Kegel found several ways of gauging the sexual responsiveness in Women.
