Problems of Orgasm: Unsatisfactory Timing of Orgasm - Causes
A man's inability to delay his orgasm is usually the result of inappropriate self-training or of simple inexperience and lack of practice. For example: In their younger years, males may not be much interested in delaying orgasm because then they are often also capable of  a second or third orgasm within a relatively short time. As a matter of fact, it is not unusual for adolescent boys to engage in masturbation contests in order to find out who can reach orgasm first. The "winner" of such a contest is usually much admired and even envied for his virility. It is only later, when he attempts coitus with a young woman, that the speed of his sexual response suddenly turns into a disadvantage. He may then reach orgasm much sooner than she and thus leave her unsatisfied. When this happens, the young man may develop serious doubts about his sexual abilities, and eventually he may even become unable to have an erection in the girl's presence. Very often, however, inexperience, over-excitement and clumsiness make the first attempts at coitus frustrating, and this can result in the loss of control. Patience and an understanding partner can usually bring success in subsequent attempts, but without such help the problem may become permanent.
