 "Potency pills" are marketed under various brand names in various shapes and colors, but they can be divided into two basic groups according to the substances they contain:
1. Those that directly increase and hold the blood flow to the penis by blocking a certain enzyme (substance: phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor), and 2. Those that work indirectly by first stimulating some process in the brain (substance: apomorphine).

"Potency Pills"
In recent years, several pharmaceutical companies have introduced pills that can facilitate tumescence and thus help men in achieving erections. Depending on the product, these oral medications either directly increase and retain the blood flow to the penis or they work indirectly in the brain which, in turn, sends out the necessary signals. However, in either case some initial sexual response, however weak, must be present for the pills to work.
These so-called potency pills should be prescribed by a doctor only after a physical examination, since they may interact in undesirable ways with other medications, and for men with certain conditions like eye problems, heart problems, or high blood pressure the use of some of these pills could be very dangerous indeed.
