Sexological Examination - In Women |
|
Procedure A sexological
examination is meant to familiarize
women with their own sex organs and
sexual response. Therefore, the woman
being examined is given a hand-held
mirror allowing her to look at her sex
organs while the doctor first looks for
clitoral adhesions. These can greatly
impair sexual enjoyment and, if they are
found, they should be removed.
Next, the doctor will probe the
vagina, inserting a finger. The purpose
here is to find out whether the woman is
able to identify and control her vaginal
muscles.
Arnold Kegel discovered that
there are mainly two vaginal areas where
a response can be expected: If one
compares the entire vaginal area with
the face of a clock with the anus
representing 6 o'clock and the glans of
the clitoris 12 o'clock, the two areas
are located two finger joints deep
inside the vagina at roughly 4 o'clock
and 8 o'clock respectively. In these
areas the woman should feel responsive.
The
responsiveness in these two areas is
related to the firmness of the muscles
surrounding the vagina.
