November 2012: A Visitor from Japan

On November 17, Prof. Haeberle was visited by Yuki Shimada, M.A. a doctoral candidate at Waseda University in Tokyo (Japan). Her research is devoted to a special aspect of German cultural history - the fight against sexually transmitted diseases in the early 20th-century. In this context, she is especially interested in the work of Magnus Hirschfeld and, for this reason, she has been using the resources of the Haeberle-Hirschfeld-Archiv. They talked at length about German sexology in particular and generally about the future implications of the electronic revolution for teaching and research.
