My dear friend Harry. Your kind letter from the 20th of April reached me yesterday. Many thanks. I will be very glad, when you write or dictate me in english. Firstly I improve my knowledge of the english language and secondly I have in this way the possibility and the great pleasure, to hear regularly from you. I accept your congratulations to the start of our Institute and Bureau in Paris; but I am not very hopeful. It seems, that Europe (not only Germany) goes in all cultural questions - and to this belongs our science - back; the power of the nationalism, fascism, racism increase and I am afraid, that a war and other troubles cannot be avoided in the next years. On account of this I much approve your decision to stay in the West and the East of the USA, especially also in the wonderful climate nature of California. Can we not make a partnership: I make your practice in New York, when you are in Los Angeles and I practice in California when you prefere to stay in New York. I believe, this can be for both parts advantageous and agreable. What you think over this? I have many friends in L.A. and Hollywood. America is our hope, our future, Europe is very sick, nearly dead. I would like to come to America and stay there from September 34 to the spring 35, perhaps longer, when I can work there, publish books in english, give courses and lectures etc. etc. My health is now better, but very often I think, my end will be like the end of your friend Otto H. Kahn. I know, his death was for you a great loss and I regret you very much. I am very interested to see you again. Can you not ... send me a similar invitation as four years ago to give lectures in the german medical Association or other Societies or Universities (Columbia etc.)? I think, it would make easier my entrance in N.Y. and also my departure from here. My best regards and greetings to Gretchen, to your mother and brother, to Seelings and all my friends there, especially best wishes for yourself. I am quite sure, that your wonderful qualities and abilities will help you, to make your life in the best way for you and the mankind. As ever yours in friendship Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld
