All duly registered accompanying persons will enjoy the following privileges:
- reduced hotel rates
- opening reception (June 29)
- social event (June 30)
- gala dinner (July 1)
They will also have the opportunity to sign up for various sightseeing tours and
excursions. The congress organization is in the process of selecting suitable options. Some of these will be presented in the final program. However, please remember: Berlin is such an exciting city with such an enormous variety of entertainment possibilities, that it is practically impossible to make a preselection that will please everybody. During the time of the congress, Berlin's three opera houses and two "musical" theaters, several symphony orchestras and dozens of repertory theaters will be playing. Dozens of great museums will be open as well (including museums of Industrial Technology and of Communications, of Egyptian, Ancient Babylonian, Greek, and Roman art, 500 years of European painting, modern art, and a Museum of Erotic Art plus a "Gay Museum".) Berlin is also a city with many large lakes, rivers, and canals offering wonderful boat rides that can last all day. In addition to all that, our congress will be framed by two truly gigantic events that must be seen and experienced to be believed:
- The largest European Gay Pride Parade ("Christopher Street Day") on June 24 , usually attracting several hundred thousand participants, and
- the "Love Parade" on July 8, the world’s largest open air techno party, usually attracting 1 ½ million young "ravers".
Quite apart from this, there are the standard city sightseeing tours, trips to the Potsdam royal palaces, open air opera music and festivals etc. etc. Our congress personnel will gladly help you to make a suitable selection once you are here on location. In sum:
Once you decide to come to Berlin, take a few extra days!
It will definitely be worth it.
