Theilhaber was a Berlin physician with a broad-based education and a multitude of interests, of which one was sexology. He was particularly concerned with questions of population, being an early advocate of liberalized birth control and a general reform of sex laws. As an ardent Zionist, he moved to Palestine, where he prospered and remained engaged in various social and humanitarian causes. Among other things, he founded a large health insurence company which survives to this day in Israel. He was also a good athlete, running in Marathon races well into his sixties. The photo to the right shows Theilhaber in the 1920's.
