Dear colleagues,

We would like to announce our endorsement for the online curriculum of courses in sexology developed and offered by the Magnus Hirschfeld Archive for Sexology in Berlin.

The Bulgarian National Centre of Public Health Protection (NCPHP) is an agency of the Ministry of Health, established in 1998 as a successor of four National health centers, among them the National Centre for Interdisciplinary Human Studies (which had been designated as WHO Collaboration Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health since 1984). Some of the main aims of activity of the National Center of Public Health Protection are the assistance in formulation and implementation of the national public and mental health policy, carrying out of scientific programmes and programmes for mental and sexual health prevention and promotion and education in the field of public health. The Centre is also a WHO Collaboration Centre for Research and Training in Mental Health. A number of regional, national and international programmes are run by the sections. As an element of its policy the Centre supports and collaborate with institutions, agencies and NGOs in the organization of joint meetings, conferences and seminars, in exchange of information and technical support, and for attaining mutually shared plans for action. The Center is also supporting and maintaining partnerships and activities in the field of the promotion of mental health and the prevention of mental disorders.

Since 1998 the National Centre is working in close collaboration with the Archive for Sexology and personally with the Director of the Archive, Prof. Erwin Haeberle on the translation and adaptation of different sexological courses in Bulgarian language.

The successful development and completion of the complementary education module in Sexual Health gave us the opportunity to prepare and offer courses in Basic Human Sexual Anatomy and Physiology, Human Reproduction, Sexual Dysfunctions and their Treatment and Human Sexual Behavior as a part of the general education of General Practioners, students in medicine and psychiatry, social workers and nurses.

We would like to underline that the contents of both the courses and the Web Site of the Archive are very useful and practical basis and a tool for academic and therapeutic activities and for scientific research.

We are highly recommending to all governmental institutions and relevant NGOs in the filed of human sexuality around the world to use and make benefit from the Curriculum in Human Sexology.

Finally we would like to thank personally Prof. Haeberle for his enormous engagement in the supervision and the support of the professionals working in the field of sexology in Bulgaria.

Sincerely yours
